Using Volunteering as an Employment or Study Pathway (IND 1.3)

This module introduces the importance of using your volunteering experiences in preparing for future employment or further study! Practical experience gained through volunteering will help develop ‘soft’ skills like teamwork, communication and networking and also provide specific technical ‘on the job’ development which can be essential for future study and work success.

Learning Intentions:

  • Clarify your interests and approaches to seeking volunteering opportunities
  • Understand how volunteering can improve educational outcomes for young people and be helpful towards further study or work
  • Make use of online networking tools and resources such as LinkedIn to highlight volunteer experiences
  • Understand the value that hiring managers place on volunteering experience
  • Develop and enhance your applications for employment, or study
